Native Plant Sources

Lucas and Wood Counties:

The Toledo Zoo sells native plants at the Farmer’s Markets in both Perrysburg and Sylvania during the summer season.

Lucas County Soil and Water Conservation District Spring Plant Sale:  130 West Dudley in Maumee (419-893-1966).  Features tree and shrub seedlings and native seed mixes.  Visit www.lucasswcd.org/ for information and order forms.

TPS Natural Science Technology Center:  5561 Elmer Dr., Toledo. Hours are on their website and Facebook.  Spring plant sale on Mother’s Day weekend (second weekend in May).  Student-grown natives from local sources.

Wood County Parks Friends Plant Sale:  Garage behind Wood County Park District Headquarters, 18729 Mercer Rd., Bowling Green (419-353-1897); office@wcparks.org. May 12, Saturday, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm sale with a large variety of native plants.   Also at Bowling Green Farmers Market, Wednesdays in June.

Blue Week Native Plant Sale:  Due to overwhelming interest and a need for more space, the sale is moving to Secor Metropark this year. May 19-20, 2018, 10:00 am-4:00 pm.  Oak Openings and Wood County Natives at $5 per plant, $8 per shrub, cash only. 

Bensell Greenhouse:  5720 Dorr Street in Toledo (419-536-3992).  The greenhouse carries a nice variety of both indoor and outdoor plants, and they are just starting to sell beautiful native plants from local genotypes. www.bensellgreenhouse.com

Poppin Up Natives:  Open sales at Berkey’s Farmer Market Sept – October, Saturdays 8 – noon.  If you are looking for a specific species call Cindy Carnicom at 567-277-0751 or Robin Parker at 419-351-1157.  They also have several kits and design templates to make getting started easier.  poppinupnatives@gmail.com
